I'm hoping Stu might be able to post a screenshot of his hotbar set up for your Pyro/Lock build.  I followed this guide on Bluedots

but I'm having a rough time getting the hang of it.  I made all the recommended macros, the whole Internalize Charge bit, forcing me to hit half the keys twice is throwing me off I think.

I'm wondering how you set it up and what your rotation is – 'cause my dps sucks and with my level of gear that shouldn't be happening, so I can only assume it's my rotation failure.

Oh, and are you using Karuul's Alerts and if so, could you paste your config file?

Was thinking I had a few macros but I actally tossed most of them out the door and went with a stripped down idea.  The macro setup they have is a bit complicated I had at one point just put them all on my bar and tried walking through the macro and it confused me :) 

 

My basic rotation is below and I put the base spells right on the action bar exactly in the order i list (yes I have internalize charge on my bar twice just so i can walk down the line.

 

I try to keep pillaging stone buff up but I'm not sure its worth it really but I do it anyways (what  the hell 40int for 5 mins).  Once you have the count up just try to keep it up tossing in a cast when you need to which with the way we raid is a pain in the ass (not the way we raid just that the counts can drop off during breaks/recouping after wipe/boss explanations/etc..).  Watch the counter and try to fire a pillaging stone in when ya can.

 

Startup (build up pillaging stones)

Flame Bolt

Pillaging Stone (5x)

 

If we're starting up a boss fight i'll do it just like above so I can build up charges … if we're pulling trash i may pop internalize charge on and let the first few shots get the bonus (you'll typically only have just a little charge from the flame bolt so it wont last through the full 5 casts).

 

Single Target

Flame Bolt (kicks off 10% crit chance buff for 10s)

Internalise Charge (on)

Searing Vitality

Coundown

Dark Touch

Internalize Charge (off)

MACRO (see below)

(on my attack bar i have fireball right next to this macro for ease of use explained below)

back to the beginning and just keep walking through

Cinder burst takes almost 5s to cast.. if the mob is going down fast just use the fireball directly from your hotbar.  I typically don't use the macro unless its a big mob (boss or harder to kill trash that we are single targetting).

When heatwave goes active you get cinderbursts cooldown taken off and its next cast is dropped down to 2.4 seconds so mash the hell out of it when it goes active.  While heatwave is up i'll pretty much just toggle between flamebolt and the macro to machinegun the fireballs.  Once its down i'll go back to walking through the order.. usually hiitting the macro twice when heatwave and cinder are on cooldown (basically getting 2 fireballs).

 

If any specials come up ( inferno for example only available when mob is 30%) I'll pop them into the rotation.

 

Thats pretty much my single target attack plan.

 

AOE

Flame Bolt (grab a mob and nuke to kick of the crit)

Internalize Charge (on)

Fire Storm

Internalize Charge (off, don't wait for fire storm to end channeling you can turn it off immediately after you start casting to not waste any charge)

back to the beginning

 

And thats that :) 

 

Any suggestions on improvements are always welcome there may be a slicker way of pulling it off but basically i tried to take their complicated set of macros and order/conditions and boil it down to the basics to get the above.

 

Hope this helps any Pyro/Lock wanna be (and if you see anything that would work better with the 1.8 mage changes PLEASE let me know I have sadly not read much on the 1.8 changes).

 

Btw I can do Intuition if you make it a Clever Intuition (add the superior int augment) its +30 int  (4 imbued leather, 4 bolts of spiritweave, 2 flickering crystals, 2 magical oils and 2 minor catalysts… nothing to outrageous as far as mats go unlike the next higher up one which currently takes a 300+p material!!)

Thanks so much Stu!  Your way makes a lot more sense.  I felt like I was micro-managing the macros that had Internalize Charge on them and it was slowing me down and messing me up half the time.  I'll give it a shot your way.

I can probably set up nkRebuff to remind me for the Flame Bolt and that would be about all I need.

I'll see about gathering mats for Intuition, that'd be great!

The way the original poster put the macros together and described it yea..I felt exactly the same way… micro managing everything and you needed a freakin map to rember the conditions.  Most likely if you could make it through the rotation exactly as he has it the DPS would be incredible…. I just couldn't do it (same reason i guess old dog/new tricks just takes too much time). 

 

Couple things that i'll add that I found myself doing last night that I thought I would drop in (you'd pick on anyways but figured i'd list em here anyways).

 

Pillage Stone the hell out of the critters, they count so you can reset your 5 minute countdown on one or find 5 of them and build your count up to 5 before a boss fight… dh's crab infestation is great , who ever thought having crabs would be 'great'?  (sorry, after the jokes last night couldn't resist).  GSB didn't have many running around which kind of sucks so you typically have to start the boss fights up with first casting pillaging stone x5 if you want the buff.

 

During a boss fight you stand a good chance of getting a full bar of charges so leave internalize charge on even during the fireballs/cinderburst if you have charge to spare.

 

I do have 2 action bars at the bottom top bar has the spells exactly in the order i state (internalize charge on that bar twice) for AOE.  Main bar at the bottom is the single target DPS and again all the spells are on there exactly in the order I list so again internalize charge is on my bottom bar twice again.  Kinda makes it idiot proof, which for the middle of some of those fights I seriously need so i can focus on where the hell i'm suppose to be standing. Just walk down the line in order.  From what I saw even last night I may not have had the top DPS spot but many times I was close so its simple and pretty solid DPS.

 

Heatwave on my top action bar (sitting off to the side easy to see) not really to use it (its in the macro)  but it lets me see the cooldown to anticipate when it'll be ready again. 

 

Last comment I said last night I don't have an interrupt but I think i do, i need to try it some time where it wont get us killed if it fails :)   Not logged in right now but one of the spells stuns the enemy for 3 seconds and yourself for 2 seconds, think that one counts as an interrupt but again didn't want risk it those freakin ice shots hurt :)
