I'm posting this in the general forums because not everyone can view the Rift forums, but I thought this was worth sharing.  If anyone is not playing Rift because of the fear of just another WoW, I'd suggest you read this thread.

Just to preface, our Rift bank got robbed.  Not by a hacker, but by a "regular" player in full control of their account.  After the guild transfer, I didn't double check all the bank settings and recruits had full access to all but cash.  We really didn't lose much other than some crafting materials that we can re-gather, and bank permissions have been adjusted. 

I posted a warning on the server forums for the server we play on.  I put on my flame-proof suit before doing so, because I fully expected a million posts on what an idiot I was for letting recruits have bank access.  There were a few of those, but what impressed me the most was the sympathy and outright generosity of players on the server who have no idea who we are, offering to help us replenish what was stolen or help us with whatever we might need.

The quality of people that play Rift has been such a refreshing change from WoW that I've mentioned it more than once and this just proves it.  Yeah, there's one jerk at least who likes to steal from welcoming generous people, but we're also surrounded by mature players who value what goes on in the community and look out for each other.  It's definitely a different atmosphere from the "every man for himself" that was WoW.

Just FYI, the thread I linked above was removed by Trion's forum moderators since I named names.  I knew it was a risk when I posted it (because it is against their code of conduct – bad me!), but I think the message got through and the message I got from the community was awesome.  It's wonderful to see players looking out for one another instead of just themselves.
