New Forums

I’ve replaced our old SimplePress forums with new, speedier and most important FREE Vanilla forums. I was able to import all our old discussions and user ranks and you should be able to log in with the same login you have been using.

To log in for the first time, click the Login link right here on the home page, then click the Forums link from the menu.  You will see another login link on the forum page, when you click it, you should get a pop up window with 2 halves.  On the left half is a place to enter user and password – YOU DON’T USE THAT PART, click the link with your name on the right side.  It may ask you to verify a password the first time, but from then on, you should be able to just click Login and it will log you in.

I apologize for any inconvenience, but SimplePress was charging $99/year for a membership just so I could keep the plug-in up to date.  It just wasn’t worth it.  I’m still doing some adjusting and you may see some changes over the next week or so. Please post a comment on this thread if you run into any issues.

  1. Give it a shot now. For some reason (maybe during a WordPress upgrade), WP set your user status to None. It did the same thing for a bunch of people. I’ve reassigned a user level for you and it seems to work. Let me know if it doesn’t.

  2. Works, but now the latest forum posts shows a post from July as the latest. I don’t seem to have any trouble accessing the forums as needed. Not sure if there’s a way to force most recent. Not sure why it’s showing July instead of more recent posts.

  3. There is also a Latest Post listing on the forums themselves. It was showing the recent ones on the homepage, now it’s not. It might have something to do with permissions. I’m still trying to figure out what it is doing to the RSS feed.
